Dead Maps 02:20
Hello now I’m your brand new stranger And this is how it feels To be so full of love and so full of anger Tied to the spinning wheel We deal in borrowed time and things that shine Wrestling with the dotted line My ears ring when it’s quiet And I’m still trying to fight it Chasing shadows in my mind I’m drunk again on borrowed time Trying to read the broken signs with one eye Dead maps on display Dead maps on display So hello now I’m your brand new stranger Smashing through your wall Mining for light in the static divide The dial’s all that I know I found a minor song angel at dawn Smoking in the new day sun If dreaming’s just like dying Then I’m not afraid of it Chasing shadows in my mind I’m losing sight, the great divide Trying to read the broken signs with one eye Dead maps on display Dead maps on display Dead maps on display Dead maps on display

Lucky Ones 02:55
It’s burning bright, I’m feeling alive Dug up a love buried long ago In this brick and mortar bungalow And it runs through the creek To these old oak trees Kicking up the leaves With the shit that I’ve seen We’ll be wild alive forever At least until summer ends I think we We could be the lucky ones I think we We could be the lucky ones But I’m terrified of what I might find Relics in the attic of a darker time that I know I should leave behind ‘Cause there’s death and decay In these homes where we lay Salutations, keys to the cage We’ll be wild alive forever At least until summer ends I think we We could be the lucky ones I think we We could be the lucky ones And we’ll run and run and run And we’ll run and run and run Until there’s nothing fucking left Ever forward, never tire Heart first straight into the sun We run and run and run I think we We could be the lucky ones I think we We could be the lucky ones And we’ll run and run and run And we’ll run and run and run We could be the lucky ones

Almost Young 03:02
I’m terrified of the streets I walk Between the angel and the bone It’s 30 thousand more to hear you talk Face to face I’m coming home So feed me youth or feed me blues Feed me everything you just can’t get used to And i’ll be true so true to you Forever chasing shadows Almost young I’m scared to death of having children But I’ll follow you there if you will go Wait, what, when did we get so old? So feed me youth or feed me blues Feed me everything you just can’t get used to And i’ll be true so true to you Forever chasing shadows Almost young Whatever comes it comes So feed me youth or feed me blues Feed me everything you just can’t get used to And i’ll be true so true to you Forever chasing shadows Almost young

I think I wanna die in a rocking chair With the lights off in a distant stare As the thunder cracks with the minor song on the radio Four hearts beat, in a one horse town So throw me the keys before the roof falls down I’ve been dying to bleed, born with the seed to carry on And I can hear the sound of the hardwood floor As we danced across the boards Searching for diamonds amongst the rough Don’t these memories collect like dust I think I wanna die in a rocking chair With the lights off in a distant stare As the thunder cracks with the minor song on the radio I think I wanna die in a rocking chair With the lights off in a distant stare As the thunder cracks with the minor song on the radio So let’s burn down the avenue And get fucked up in the afternoon I wanna sing like the smoke on a Georgian Bay night And get high and hold onto Half for me and half for you Maybe the kid in us was right I think I wanna die in a rocking chair With the lights off in a distant stare As the thunder cracks with the minor song on the radio I think I wanna die in a rocking chair With the lights off in a distant stare As the thunder cracks with the minor song on the radio You know, I think I wanna dance, dance like I’m leaving I’m running with the horses back to Eden And I will be young and I will be old at the same time I hope you had yours, ‘cause I’ve had mine What a lifetime, at the same time I think I wanna die in a rocking chair With the lights off in a distant stare As the thunder cracks with the minor song on the radio

Lions 03:26
I was surfing on a memory And its all coming back to me now I swear I told you everything But somehow there’s always something more There’s a cigarette burn on the passenger floor From when we were lions, we were lords Tired but never bored Sharpen your blade my friend Lets do it all again Sharpen your blade my friend Sharpen your blade my friend Sharpen your blade my friend And now I’m running from the irony Of the tales of the restless and young Swear I told you everything Swear I’d say nothing more There’s a cork, here’s a cup, leave your boots by the door There’s a bag in a sock at the back of her drawer And the same cigarette burns on her floor From when we were lions, we were lords Tired but never bored Sharpen your blade my friend Lets do it all again Sharpen your blade my friend Sharpen your blade my friend Sharpen your blade my friend The wild ones, with mistakes undone High strung and forever craving more From when we were lions, we were lords Tired but never bored Sharpen your blade my friend Lets do it all again Man, we were titans, we were thorns Now we wait for babies born Sharpen your blade my friend Lets do it all again Sharpen your blade my friend Sharpen your blade my friend Sharpen these blades my friend

With You 03:50
Brother let’s laugh about it Past failures, misdemeanours Drop your cannonballs on misery And let’s drown one more drink ‘Cause I think you’re overthinking it We keep on digging some pit Man, I’ve been meaning to tell you Every mistake somehow felt great With you And we rode through the rain In a consequence train Fuck, it all felt great With you, with you Lover don’t lie to me It was a beautiful tragedy Silver linings are shining through There’s no more mercy Mercy from the alcohol or the irony Claw back your life to love again Every mistake somehow felt great With you And we rode through the rain In a consequence train Fuck, it all felt great With you, with you, with you Squeeze the blood from the thorn ‘Cause baby we were born to unfold Maybe we were born to unfold Skip your stones to the shore And let ‘em bend, let ‘em break Let ‘em find some way To the brightest sides of yesterday ‘Cause we were born to unfold Every mistake somehow felt great With you And we rode through the rain In a consequence train Fuck, it all felt great With you, with you, with you

Born with a blank slate, now its painted blue Undercover, young lover there was only you But the world is so damn mean And it got to me Casting rocks into our canopy We get buried underneath the stones We forget who we are and we just move on Until we’re Laying on the hood of the car Trying to keep count of the endless stars Outside of the bar, low in the heart Black t shirts, bad habits We used to write love songs And invite in new friends Cared for one another as the seasons bend But the yellow leaves are falling now Like Damocles they’re coming down We bury our ears ‘cause we can’t stand the sound Now we barely feel nothing at all We forget who we are and we just move on But we’re still Laying on the hood of the car Trying to keep count of the endless stars Outside of the bar, low in the heart Black t shirts, bad habits Black t shirts, bad habits We outran our wild hearts Searching for angels at the end of the bar I’m six drinks deep on the edge of the earth Strangely under sky Laying on the hood of the car Trying to keep count of the endless stars Outside of the bar, low in the heart Black t shirts, bad habits Black t shirts, bad habits Black t shirts, bad habits Black t shirts, bad habits Black t shirts, bad habits Black t shirts, bad habits

Bound to this life like a contract I don’t know what’s wrong or what’s right Caught a glimpse of your face in the right light Your so you, man, I wish I was mine But there’s no such thing as ownership In these lives that we rent All we have is seconds to steal and forever to spend We’re gonna put a dent in the city Hey! we’re still young, we’re still pretty Bound to this life like a contract Under the million starred night Set your best laid plans for the blowback Fear and the dotted line And we’re climbing, we’re climbing Hellbent for sky And we’re climbing, we’re climbing Pretending to fly We’re gonna put a dent in the city Hey! we’re still young, we’re still pretty We’re gonna put a dent in the city Hey! we’re still young, we’re still pretty In a world marked by death Time is a stone wing Delicately carved and falling down on me In a world marked by death Time is a stone wing Delicately carved and falling down on me We’re gonna put a dent in the city Hey! we’re still young, we’re still pretty We’re gonna put a dent in the city tonight We are unchained, we are desire We are unchained, we are desire We are unchained, we are desire

Hunny pack your bags We’re going away for a while Lets return when we wanna Drop the weight of the world we both bare I know it may sound like treason I think I’m leaving and I don’t care No I don’t care So hunny pack your bags We’re going away for a while And I don’t wanna come back here ‘Till my IV drips some desire Lets sell the house, burn the car, light a fire I know it may sound like treason I think I’m leaving and I don’t care No I don’t care Curse this haze, this burden in my brain I’m tired of feeling, tired of fighting Curse this haze, it’s been burning up my days This need to replant every seed And that I fucked up everything So hunny pack your bags We’re going away for a while ‘Cause there’s another life And its standing in the light Champagne wild There is a house on a hill Where the sun it shines and the ocean spills fine wine all the time But the silver trays are tarnished And the pool is filled with piss And the caviar tastes like shit Curse this haze, this burden in my brain I’m tired of feeling, tired of fighting Curse this haze, it’s been burning up my days This need to replant every seed And that I fucked up everything that I fucked up everything that I fucked up everything that I fucked up everything So hunny pack those bags

Robbed 02:47
I’ve been robbed in Nashville, Montreal too Had the windows smashed in Italy What’s a boy to do Feels like I’m walking on a guitar string And the wind’s blowing now If we make it back to Germany We’ll get home somehow ‘Cause there’s a flight out at 6 a.m. On a discount airline We can sleep on the airport floor We’ll make it our just fine I’ve been robbed in Nashville, Montreal too Had the windows smashed in Italy What’s a boy to do I’ve been robbed in Nashville, Montreal too Had the windows smashed in Italy What’s a boy to do Feels like I’m walking on a guitar string And the wind’s blowing now If we make it back to Germany We’ll get home somehow ‘Cause there’s a flight out at 6 a.m. On a discount airline We can sleep on the airport floor We’ll make it our just fine I’ve been robbed in Nashville, Montreal too Had the windows smashed in Italy What’s a boy to do I’ve been robbed in Nashville, Montreal too Had the windows smashed in Italy What’s a boy to do

Big Love 04:54
Big Love, Do you remember when we were strangers? Sifting through some kind of light That faults and fades and flickers We towed the line We did what made us feel alive And harnessed every glowing green light We fed the beast to the highest power ‘Cause more than ever We both knew its now or never Light your fire, watch it blister We’ll carve our names into the falter and the flicker Bleed out your grey, find romance in the runaway Every step with big love Man, I can’t recall when we didn’t know each other at all Its hard to paint the picture clear So much dust and ash in the rearview We towed the line We did what made us feel alive Hello now I’m your brand new stranger We fed the beast to the highest power ‘Cause more than ever We both knew its now or never Light your fire, watch it blister We’ll carve our names into the falter and the flicker Bleed out your grey, find romance in the runaway Every step with big love With big love Big love Big love Big love Big love We’ll carve our names into The falter and the flicker

about

The writing and recording of Reprieve was unique to our previous records in many ways. For one, there was over a five year gap since we wrote the songs for our last record ‘Half Glow.’ We were really chomping at the bit to get back at it and there were so many songs and ideas waiting in the wings to be explored. With so much raw material to work with, and even more excitement to be doing so, we made a conscious effort to branch out: to arrange songs that are reminiscent of what turned us on to punk rock in the first place, but also to craft others that are so far removed from that sonic landscape. We opened the doors to whatever came creatively and Reprieve is what walked in. - Travis
